During my student days, my motto was "enjoying challenges."During my studies abroad, I participated in night classes at Boston University, participated in internships, volunteered, performed in musicals, and participated in accredited study abroad programs. One challenge led to the next step, and each time I gained more experience, I became more confident in communicating in English.Naturally, the opportunities for local activities expanded rapidly, and each day was fun and fulfilling. After returning to Japan, I actively worked on accepting international students and supporting projects (SSIP).
After completing internships and job hunting, I landed a job at Johnson and Johnson after graduation.Currently, I am in the position of Supply Chain Medical Planning, where I am in charge of formulating demand plans for medical equipment. She is responsible for forecasting market demand in accordance with marketing strategies, creating scenarios for new product introductions, and optimizing inventory.I believe that the communication skills I honed during my university days are directly connected to my day-to-day work with global teams.

In my university classes, through discussions and presentations in English, I was able to acquire practical communication skills that cannot be learned from textbooks alone. During my six-month study abroad in the United States in the second half of my second year, I failed to order white chocolate chip topping at the first ice cream shop I visited, which led me to practice my pronunciation. My time studying abroad was a valuable time where I was able to grow and learn with my friends how to express what I want to convey to people with different backgrounds.
After graduating from university, I got a job at a Japanese shipping company. After that, I changed jobs twice, working for a Chinese drone manufacturer and a Nordic-based shipping company.Currently, I am involved in trading and sales at a foreign shipping company. My marketing experience from my previous job is also helpful.Recently, I have more opportunities to give presentations in English, and I am practicing every day to prepare for them. When looking for a job or changing jobs, I believe it is important to have confidence in yourself and to be flexible when choosing a career path.
If I had the opportunity to study at a university again, I would choose Showa Women's University's Department of English Language and Communication without hesitation. This is because we provide an environment where you can have fun while acquiring English skills that will be useful in society through daily classes and study abroad experiences.I hope you will greatly expand your possibilities by learning in this department and taking a step forward with courage.
