Boys and Girls Club Boston (BGCB)

Students in Showa Boston's community service class volunteer at Boys & Girls Club Boston (BGCB) in Boston. BGCB's mission is to "enable all children and young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens." We offer after-school child care and various classes for local children.
Showa Boston collaborated with TABLE FOR TWO USA, an organization that works on food issues and dietary education through the introduction of Japanese food, and held activities such as the edamame challenge and miso ramen cooking lessons with the children of BGCB.

``It was very difficult to teach children how to use chopsticks.I learned how to use chopsticks when I was young, and since I used them, it's ingrained in my body, but I didn't know how to teach or explain it to the children. I had no idea what to do with chopsticks. But I was so happy when I saw the boy I was teaching finally being able to use chopsticks!"
