Growing together with our friends
Obtaining licenses and qualifications
Students can obtain both an elementary school teacher's license and a kindergarten teacher's license, or a kindergarten teacher's license and a childcare worker's license. What made you decide to study the Department of Elementary Education?
In order to achieve my dream of becoming an elementary school teacher who can interact with each individual child, I placed emphasis on a curriculum that would allow me to obtain a teaching license and a learning environment when choosing a university. This department is located on the same campus as the certified childcare center and the university, and I was attracted by the environment where I could learn while watching children every day.
What did you learn?
There are also many opportunities to learn practically and experience real educational situations. In the summer of my third year, I participated in the Tateyama Program, an experiential summer school for elementary school students. While planning and running a music-themed class, I learned the importance of children taking the initiative. This experience has helped me create lesson plans that consider the content and structure of lessons that will elicit rich ideas.
What do you want to work on next?
The use of ICT is becoming more widespread in the field of education, and interactive classes are being developed. How can we encourage children to take an active role and deepen their learning? We are exploring the possibilities of using ICT by interacting with children in programming workshops and other activities.
Which class left an impression on you?
In the "Special Needs Education Theory and Methods" class, we visited a research institute for special needs education. It was a valuable experience for us to encounter new realizations and discoveries that we would not have been able to learn through systematic classroom learning.
