What is the international student track?

This is a program designed for international students.(i)The curriculum will be the same as the current International Studies Department, but the foreign languages studied will be English and Japanese. After enrolling, students will receive an intensive Japanese language program, extensive learning support, and systematic career education, while improving their expertise and acquiring the skills required in a global society.

(i) When international students enroll in the Department of International Studies, they will be enrolled in the track for international students in principle. However, if they meet the specified Japanese language level at the time of enrollment (a total score of 1 points or more in Japanese (reading comprehension, listening comprehension, and listening-reading comprehension) on the CEFR C270 Examination for Japanese University Admissions (CEFR C1)), they can take the regular track (choose one language other than Japanese from German, French, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, and Vietnamese in addition to English, and study abroad as a graduation requirement) if they wish.

We are looking for students who want to study in Japan and also experience learning at an American university.

In the first year, students will study English intensively in addition to the Japanese program, which consists of seven classes per week. The English and Japanese programs will continue from the second year onwards, and students will aim to have CEFR C1 level in both languages by the time they graduate.
  • Studying abroad is optional. If you wish, it is possible to study abroad at our university's overseas campus, Showa Boston, English-speaking overseas partner universities (USA, Australia, UK, etc.), or overseas partner universities with English courses (Italy, Boland, Romania, etc.)(iii).
