Take multiple languages to the world stage!
01
High level command of English + 1 other language
acquisition
In addition to English, students choose one language from Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Spanish, German, or French. The language program that combines English and the selected language has 1 to 7 lessons per week, and students are trained thoroughly. In addition to language, students also learn in depth about international relations, international cooperation, the politics, economics, and history of each country.

What made you decide to study international studies?
The Double Degree Program (DDP), which allows students to earn two degrees, one from Showa Women's University and one from an overseas partner university, was the deciding factor in choosing this department. In particular, Temple University, Japan Campus (TUJ) is located on our campus, and the fact that I could earn a US degree while remaining in Japan was a big attraction. What did you learn?
In my third year, I stayed in Spain through the Tobitate! Study Abroad JAPAN program, and am currently studying at TUJ DDP. TUJ has many unique courses, and one of its strengths is that it allows me to study a wide range of subjects. In addition to English, I am also actively taking language courses such as German and Spanish. I am deepening my understanding of different cultures through interactions with students of various nationalities. What do you want to work on next?
Through learning about food waste issues while studying abroad, I have set a goal for myself to work for an international organization that tackles food and agricultural issues in the future. After graduation, I plan to major in food systems at a graduate school overseas. I would like to improve my foreign language skills, including English, and my expertise in order to use them in my future career.Which class left an impression on you?
The "Introduction to Intercultural Communication" course I took in my first year was a course that allowed me to learn about the abstract themes of culture and communication in a logical and systematic way. I am confident that the knowledge I gained is useful in the international environment of the TUJ DDP and will become an important foundation for my future career.
