Regarding handling of classes

If it is expected that it will be difficult and dangerous for students to get to and from school due to transportation disruptions or natural disasters (typhoons, heavy snow, etc.), the president will make an appointment based on consultation with the Dean of Academic Affairs, Dean of Students, and Director of the Academic Support Center. Classes will be canceled as determined.In such cases, please contact us through UP SHOWA or the university website.The approximate contact times are as shown in the table below.

If you are unable to attend classes due to a temporary suspension of railway service due to a disaster, etc., please submit an official application for absence to your department along with a certificate of delay.If a special warning or alert has been issued due to a natural disaster in the area where you are commuting from your home to the university, you may be granted official absence using the same procedure.

Regarding handling of information transmission through J-Alert etc.

We will basically contact you via UP SHOWA.If the Setagaya campus is assumed to be a target area in advance, we may contact you in advance on UP SHOWA, so please make sure to check by yourself.

Regarding response to information transmission by J-Alert due to ballistic missile launch

In the event that North Korea launches a ballistic missile and there is a possibility that it will land in Japan, the government will send information through the National Instant Warning System (J-Alert). If a J-Alert is sent and the Setagaya campus is included in the target area, the Setagaya campus will respond as follows, so please check in advance and act calmly to protect your own safety.

• Students will be asked to wait at home before coming to school.
• Students on their way to school should evacuate to a nearby sturdy building or underground to ensure their safety.
• Students who are outdoors on the Setagaya campus should immediately evacuate to a nearby building.Students staying indoors should follow the school announcements and instructions from faculty and staff.

Class support, etc.

• If the cancellation is made by the class start time (XNUMX:XNUMX a.m.), regular classes will be held as a general rule.
• If a J-Alert is sent or canceled after the class start time, we will notify you on the UP SHOWA.In addition, information will be communicated via the school broadcast system on the Setagaya campus.

*If a ballistic missile passes over Japan or lands in waters outside Japan's territorial waters, it will be considered a cancellation of the J-Alert and will be communicated via the school broadcast and UP SHOWA.
