International Student Support and Exchange Program

INDEX

SWU offers a variety of support and exchange opportunities for international students.

Study Support *For full-time international students only*

For international students aiming to obtain a degree at our university, there are two systems to support academic Japanese and daily study in the student's major.
Applications are accepted every semester and are available for free. The support time is pre-determined and is offered once a week for 1 minutes per session.

Japanese Tutor

A Japanese language tutor will provide guidance according to individual needs, such as writing assignments for reports, correcting papers in Japanese, studying for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, practicing conversation and presentations, etc.
Teachers who have completed the "Japanese Language Teacher Training Course" will provide one-on-one Japanese language learning support.

Study Partner

Classmates or senior students from the same department will support studying subjects that the students have difficulty understanding or have not studied in depth in their home country.
This system not only provides learning support tailored to individual needs but also provides consultation regarding daily school-life problems if requested.

Life Support and Interaction

Host Sister

This is a buddy system for international students enrolling directly from overseas and non-degree semester international students.
Host sister will meet up at the airport when students arrive in Japan, assist with check-in to the accommodation, assist with procedures at the ward office, open a bank account, and provide other general support to start the student's study abroad life.

Host Family

Host families program provides opportunities for non-degree semester international students to interact with Japanese families during their stay at SWU. This program is not a type of accommodation, but rather a program where students can interact with their family once or twice a month to experience typical Japanese family life and Japanese culture from a different aspect.

Play sports, go out on weekends, have dinner parties at family's homes, etc.

Language Exchange Conversation Partner

This is a one-on-one language exchange program conducted in Japanese and in the native language of international students.
Through language exchange activities held once a week for 1 minutes, students can learn from each other and interact, while also making friends on campus.

International Exchange Event (CHAWA)

CHAWA, a student group that plans and manages events for international students, plans cultural events and outings throughout the year where students can experience Japanese seasons and culture and also interact with other SWU students.
